PURPOSE:To increase combustion efficiency of a fuel oil, e.g. gasoline, light oil, etc., used as a fuel for internal combustion engines of automobiles, ships, etc., and promote saving of fuel consumption, by adding a sequestering agent. CONSTITUTION:A sequestering agent, e.g. polydentate ligand capable of coordinating with metallic ions to form a chelate compound, in an amount of preferably 0.01-0.05vol% is added to a combustion oil for internal combustion engines.
