PURPOSE:To arrange an apparatus main body to one corner of an office or by the wall thereof, by performing control so that screen printing base paper is transferred from the interior to this side and transferred from this side to the interior at the time of the plate making of a manuscript or transferred from the interior to this side at the time of the finish of plate making. CONSTITUTION:When screen printing base paper 2 is replaced or maintenance is performed, a plate making apparatus main body may be drawn out along with an apparatus mount stand 24 in this side direction looked from an operation side. In forming the image of a manuscript 15 on the screen printing base paper 2 by a plate making process, the manuscript 15 is placed on a manuscript mount table 13 so that the surface to be subjected to plate making is turned upwardly and, when starting operation is performed, both manuscript transfer roller pairs 16, 16, 19, 19 start forward rotation to allow the manuscript 15 to forwardly move toward the interior and the image formed to the upper surface of the manuscript 15 is read by an image sensor 17 to be converted to an electric signal. The manuscript 15 is entirely read and the absence of the manuscript 15 is detected by a microswitch 18 and both manuscript transfer roller pairs 16, 16, 19, 19 are once stopped. The screen printing base paper 2 after plate making is cut into a predetermined length dimension and, at the same time, both manuscript roller pairs 16, 16, 19, 19 are reversed and the manuscript 15 rearwardly moves toward this side to be fed back to the manuscript mount table 13.
