PURPOSE:To enable wire supplied from a supply bobbin to be wound on a bobbin while changing the shape of its cross section, by providing a means for plastic working the wire between the supply bobbin and a bobbin on which the wire is wound. CONSTITUTION:A distance L between pressure rolls 18 and 18A is first set to be smaller than a diameter D of metallic wire 11. The metallic wire 11 supplied from a supply bobbin is passed between the pressure rolls 18 and 18A so that the wire 11 is rolled to have a depressed cross section, The metallic wire is then wound on one side of a bobbin 15, namely on the side of a flange 15A. After that, the metallic wire 11 is wound on the bobbin 15 near the center of the cylindrical body 15B thereof as the distance L' between the pressure rolls 18 and 18A is reduced gradually. Further, the wire 11 is wound on the other side of the bobbin 15, namely on the side of the flange 15C as the distance L between the pressure rolls 18 and 18A is increased gradually. A multiple coil is obtained in this manner. Thus, the wire supplied from the supply bobbin is worked into a desired shape by the plastic working means before winding the same so as to provide various configurations of coils without being limited by the shape of the wire supplied from the supply bobbin. |
