DISPLAY METHOD FOR RETRIEVED PICTURE

PURPOSE:To display plural retrieved pictures at a high speed by displaying only a specific area that is designated by a user among each retrieved picture data. CONSTITUTION:The position of a partial area of a retrieved picture to be displayed on a display screen is designated and the recorded position of the picture data part corresponding to a designated position on a file medium is obtained based on the position information included in the index record corresponding to the retrieved picture. Then the recorded position on the file medium receives an access and the picture data record is partly read out. This read picture data is restored and outputted onto the display screen. Thus it is possible to display at a high speed the retrieved picture data including the information on the part desired by a user.
