PURPOSE:To avoid the trouble of the setting of data transmission speed in applying data communication by storing the data transmission speed of a data terminal equipment in advance to a data exchanging device and informing the corresponding storage data at the reception side in the case of data communication to the sender side so as to revise the data transmission speed at the transmission side. CONSTITUTION:The data transmission speed of the data terminal is stored in advance in the data exchanging device and the storing data corresponding to the reception side is informed to the sender at data communication to revise the data transmission speed at the sender side. For example, in applying data communication from a data terminal equipment (DTE) 4 via data exchanging device 1, a DCE 2 is used and a telephone number of the connection opposite party is informed to an exchange control section 8 to make the data transmission speed of the DCE 2 coincident with the data transmission speed of the opposite side. Since the data exchanging device revises the data transmission speed of the sender side so as to coincide with the data transfer speed of the opposite side, the trouble of operation is avoided.
