PURPOSE:To accurately perform examination, by containing an examination reagent layer constituting material other than an examination reagent principal component in the judge reference hue layer provided on the surface of the base material of test paper and coloring the same by a dye. CONSTITUTION:An examination reagent solution such as a beta-D-glucose solution is infiltrated in filter paper and dried to form an examination reagent layer. Next, the examination reagent layer is immersed in each of solutions to be examined containing beta-D-glucose at various concns. and taken out to be allowed to stand for 1min. A dispersant dye is added to a solution of a composition wherein the principal component from an examination reagent is removed and the filter paper is impregnated with the resulting solution to be dried to form a hue layer. Herein, the color of the hue layer is adjusted so that the color of the hue layer developed when the hue layer is immersed in a liquid to be examined and taken out to be allowed to stand for 1min coincides with the coloration of the examination reagent layer. Then, the examination reagent layer 1 is adhered to a white polystyrene sheet 3 and the hue layer 2 is adhered to said sheet 3 in close vicinity to the examination reagent layer 1. By this method, the difference between the surface tensions and shapes of both of the examination reagent layer and the hue layer can be eliminated and examination can be accurately performed.
