PURPOSE:To prevent formation of oxide scale which arises in the part of metallic materials in pressurized contact with electrodes by forming a film consisting of an oxide scale formation preventive agent essentially consisting of a specific compsn. on the surfaces of the welding materials in contact with welding electrodes at the time of resistance welding. CONSTITUTION:The film consisting of the oxide scale formation preventive agent is formed to the part of the metallic materials in contact with the electrodes or the periphery thereof prior to execution of the resistance welding. The oxide scale formation preventive agent is the oxide scale formation preventive agent essentially consisting of the water-soluble metal-contg. compsn. obtd. by heating reaction of a metal alkoxide contg. 1 or >=2 kinds of metals selected from the group consisting of B, Al, Ga, and In, 1 or >=2 kinds of ethanol amines and carbonic acid. The formation of the oxide scale at the time of the resistance welding is thereby prevented.
