PURPOSE:To efficiently carry out the filtration or separation, etc., by preventing the leakage of the treating pressure during the treatment in an open type filtration or separation vessel. CONSTITUTION:A bowl type cover body 10 is provided to form clearance between the outer circumference of a cylindrical treating element 2 and to be opened at the lower part. And, a gas discharge pipe 11 is provided in such a way that its one end is opened at the upper part of the inside of the cover body 10 and the other end is opened to the outside near the opening of the lower part of the cover body 10. As a result, the liquid to be treated is filled in the clearance between the treating element 2 and the cover body 10 even when the surface of the liquid to be treated is lowered below the height of the treating element; so that the treating pressure is surely acted without leakage until the treating operation is finished, and, consequently, the filtration or separation, etc., is carried out with high efficiency.
