PURPOSE:To take various measurements economically by enabling plural units which are equipped with characteristic ROMs, RAMs, measurement control means, and measuring means to be attached to and detached from a main body which has a common CPU, a memory, an I/O, and a display means. CONSTITUTION:The main body and a plug-in unit 100 are connected by a bus line 200. Plural units 10, 20... are connected detachably to the plug-in unit 100 with plugs and the respective units are equipped with the characteristic ROMs 5, RAMs 6, measurement control means 7, and measuring means 8. The main body is provided with the CPU 1, memory 2, I/O 3, and display means 4 which are used in common by the respective units. The CPU 1 selects one or plural units by the program stored in the memory 2 according to input information from the I/O 3 and performs individual or composite measuring operation by programs stored in the ROMs 5 of those units. Consequently, various measurements are taken economically.
