PURPOSE:To obtain the title lens difficult to damage and having resistance to environment by using an amorphous carbon film contg. a specified percentage of a hydrogen atom, based on all the component atoms, as the surface protecting film. CONSTITUTION:The amorphous carbon film contg. 30-60atom.% hydrogen atom, based on all the component atoms, is used as the film for protecting the surface of the lens. The surface protecting film is formed by decomposing a compd. having a >=3C unsaturated bond by a glow discharge. A 3-6C compd. is more preferably used as the compd. having a <=3C unsaturated bond. The unsaturated hydrocarbon, carboxylic acid, and its ester contg. one double bond or the unsaturated hydrocarbons such as ethers and amines contg. >=2 double bonds or their mixture can be used as the compd. Such compds. may contain a halogen atom such as fluorine, chlorine, and bromine in their structures. |
