PURPOSE:To obtain a color thermal transfer ink sheet which enables discrimination of colors for color thermal transfer, by providing light-reflective marks on a sheet base at positions corresponding to boundary parts between monochromic ink layers, in a non-transmitting color thermal transfer ink sheet. CONSTITUTION:A light-reflective mark 5 provided at each boundary part between a black ink layer 4BK and a yellow ink layer 4Y is different from other marks 5b, 5c, 5d in shape, and is printed in the width direction of an ink sheet over the entire width. When this color thermal transfer ink sheet 1 is moved in the direction of an arrow A, the light-reflective marks 5a-5d are detected by light-emitting and light-receiving elements 8A, 8B. The boundaries defining the monochromic ink layers 4Y, 4M, 4C, 4BK can be made clear through detection signals from the element 8B, and by a combination of the detection signals, thereby it is made possible to discriminate the yellow ink layer 4Y (which is the first one of the ink layers in each set) and the other ink layers 4M, 4C, 4BK. |
