PURPOSE:To enhance classification precision of particles, by providing a submerged weir to the inside of a slurry layer of a particulate side positioned before the takeout port of slurry of the particulate side so that the submerged weir crosses the flow direction of the slurry of the particulate side. CONSTITUTION:A perforated plate 8a in which the central part is cut off and slits 9 are provided along the circumferential direction is provided just under a takeout port 5a and a submerged weir 7 is constituted so that it crosses the equilibrium liquid surface S of slurry. By this constitution, even when slurry 6 of a raw material fed to the inner circumferential face side of a rotary bow 2 from a supply pipe 4 of slurry is flowed short-circuitously in the direction of the takeout port 5a along the equilibrium liquid surface S, it is inhibited by the submerged weir 7. As a result, the slurry 6 of the raw material is once made confluent in slurry 6a retained in the rotary bowl 2. Then it is flowed upward in the direction shown in an arrow A1 while being subjected to classifying action resulting from centrifugal force and successively flowed to the takeout port 5a through the slit 9. By such a way, the short-circuitous flow in the direction of takeout port 5a is inhibited and the slurry 6 of the raw material is surely classified while maintaining constant settlement depth by the submerged weir 7 and holding the retention time.
