PURPOSE:To use a flexible optical recording medium having a large floating gap variation as an optical recording medium, and to reduce a price by suppressing a gap variation between the optical recording medium and an optical head body by means of two steps of a slider and drive elements. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the slider 11 is sphere-shaped and is provided with a groove 61 in a scanning direction at its central part, and the optical head 3 is fitted in the groove 61 and is fixed on a common 62 with the slider. When the flexible optical recording medium 12 rotates, the flexible optical recording medium 12 floats from the slider 11 by the principle of a dynamic pressure air bearing, and a slider/flexible optical recording medium gap setteles at some value. Since the gap variation suppressed by the two steps of the slider 11 and the drive element, the price of a drive device can be kept low, and the cheap use of the flexible optical recording medium can be realized.
