The appts. and process utilises a vessel, pref. pressurised, contg. a perforated carrier for yarn cones through which dye liq. is circulated firstly outwardly and then inwardly. In the first stage the outward flow of dye liquor is little more than just enough to fill the insides of the cones and the carrier, so that the vessel space outside the cones is free of dye liquor.
