PURPOSE:To obtain a dense and inexpensive superconductive ceramic having high TCO in a short time, by blending one or more compounds of elements of group IIIa of the periodic table with one or more compounds of elements of group IIa and a Cu compound, press molding and simultaneously calcining under heating. CONSTITUTION:Given amounts of each fine powder of oxides or carbonates (e.g. Yb2O5) of one or more elements A selected from group IIIa of the periodic table, oxides or carbonate (e.g. BaCO3) of one or more elements B selected from group IIa and Cu oxide or carbonate (e.g. CuO) are collected as starting raw materials. Then the powder is mixed, tableted, calcined in the atmosphere at 500-1,000 deg.C and ground into <=10mu average particle diameter. As the resultant material is press molded at under 50kg/cm<2> pressure into tablets, the material is simultaneously oxidized and calcined at 500-1,200 deg.C in the atmosphere to give superconductive ceramic shown by the formula (x=0-1.0; y=2.0-4.0; z=1.0-4.0; w=4.0-10.0).
