PURPOSE:To obtain superconducting ceramics at a low cost, by mixing respective compounds of two or more selected from elements, such as Y family elements, with Ra, Ba, Sr, Ca, Mg or Be and Cu, pressurizing the resultant mixture, temporarily firing the pressurized mixture, finely pulverizing the temporarily fired mixture, repressurizing the pulverized material and normally firing the resultant material. CONSTITUTION:Respective fine powders of oxides, carbonates, etc., of two or more elements (A) and (A') selected from Y family elements consisting of Y, Gd, Yb, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Lu and Sc and other lanthanoids are mixed with oxides, carbonates, etc., of two or more elements (B) and (B') selected from Ra, Ba, Sr, Ca, Mg and Be and oxides, carbonates, etc., of Cu as starting raw materials in respective given amounts are collected. The resultant fine powders are then mixed, tableted, temporarily fired in, e.g. the air, at 500-1,000 deg.C and then pulverized to <=10mu average powder radius, hot formed into tablets under pressure, e.g. at 300-800 deg.C under 50kg/cm<2> pressure, and then normally fired in the air at 500-1,000 deg.C to afford the aimed superconducting ceramics expressed by the formula (x and x' are 0-1; y and y' are 2.0-4.0; z and z' are 1.0-4.0; w and w' are 4.0-10.0).
