The instrument comprises: a shaft sleeve 6; an ink reservoir 7 in the shaft sleeve; an application member 13 mounted in a front end 15 of the shaft sleeve; a valve unit 8, 9, 10 disposed between the reservoir and the application member; a piston disk 17 provided with a rod 16 at its rear end in a projecting manner, the disk being slid ably mounted in the reservoir so as to be brought into watertight contact with the application liquid, the rod being provided with sawtooth-shaped projections 19 at regular intervals along a longitudinal axis of the rod; a push-out sleeve 24 disposed outside the rod and provided with a front enlarged interior space adjacent a front flange 27 of the push-out sleeve, the front flange extending radially inwardly; a push member 30 provided with a flange 29 and loosely mounted on the rod in the front enlarged interior space of the push-out sleeve, the flange extending radially inwardly; and means for controlling a stroke of the push-out sleeve so as to keep the stroke constant. <IMAGE>
