Exterior luminaires which are fitted with high-pressure lamps require parabolic reflector arrangements of specific design in their curvature contour for evenly illuminating larger areas if disturbing stripes of light and shade on the area to be illuminated are to be prevented. If high-pressure lamps of low wattage are used, this then results in great difficulties to adapt the faceted (bevel-edged) mirrors previously used to the small cross-section of the burner of such high-pressure lamps. In the case of such high-pressure lamps (7) it is proposed that, instead of faceted mirrors and starting from the centre of the roof of the mirror of the reflector arrangement (5) in the direction of the edge of the mirror representing the shielding edge, to subdivide the concave curvature of the longitudinal sides (9) in the direction perpendicular to the burner axes of the high-pressure lamp (7) into successive curvature sections (KA1, KA2) having increasing radii (r1, r2) of curvature and to dimension the radii of curvature of these curvature sections and the parabolic or approximately parabolic curvature of the longitudinal sides (9) in an extension of the burner axis in such a manner that the mirror images (12) of the burner of the high-pressure lamp (7) in the case of the burner cross-section being widened only slightly are longitudinally pulled apart in accordance with the requirements. <IMAGE>
