In the case of a known locking device for emergency-exit doors, a magnet is arranged on the safety bolt, to which magnet a reed contact can be connected which, for its part, switches on time-delay relays, after which time delay an electromagnet, which activates the safety bolt in the closure direction, becomes de-energised. In this arrangement, the change in magnetic flux is monitored by a further reed contact. It is, however, possible, when the door is open, to manipulate the closing device, in that the safety bolt is pressed into a position corresponding to the locking position and the closure state of the door is thus simulated. In order to eliminate intentional or unintentional maloperations, a further reed contact, arranged in a stationary manner in the region of the movement plane of the closure means, can be connected to a magnet fixed on said closure means. By virtue of this arrangement of a magnet on the closure means, by means of which a reed contact for monitoring or checking back the closure state of the emergency-exit door can be connected, unauthorised manipulations and incorrect use of the emergency-exit door are eliminated.
