PURPOSE:To stop an object by a single shock absorber automatically and softly by detecting a change in inner pressure of a liquid chamber and self-controlling a flow of a moving liquid at an orifice. CONSTITUTION:A piezoelectric element 11 for converting a change in liquid pressure in a cylinder 8 into a voltage is located at a bottom portion 3a of an inner tube 3. A pressure receiving plate 12 is mounted on the piezoelectric element 11. When a piston 10 receives a load from a moving object and is lowered, the liquid pressure in the cylinder 8 is increased to be applied through the pressure receiving plate 12 to the piezoelectric element 11 which in turn generates a voltage. An electrostrictive element 13 receives this voltage and is contracted in the direction of stack thereof to thereby retract a valve member 13a from an opening of an orifice 4. As a result, the liquid in the cylinder 8 is discharged to a recirculation passage 5. |
