PURPOSE:To straighten a thermosoftening bar by fixing one end of the bar at an angle to the tensile load direction in accordance with the bend of the bar to be corrected, heating and softening a part of the bend, and exerting a tensile load on the other end. CONSTITUTION:The thermosoftening bar is straightened by the following means (a)-(d). (a) A means 3 for holding one end 1a of the bent thermosoftening bar 1, (b) a means 2 for heating and softening the midway of the bar 1, (c) the means 13, 15, 17, 22, etc., for exerting a tensile load F on the other end 1b of the bar 1 so that the axis l1 connecting the softened point 1c of the bar 1 and the other end 1b of the bar 1 is aligned with the straight tensile load direction (F direction), and (d) the transfer means 4, 5, 10, etc., for transferring the holding means 3 along the straight line at an angle of theta to the tensile load direction and for continuously sending the bar 1 between the one end 1a of the bar 1 and the softened point 1c into the heating means 2 are used. |
