PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic having excellent transparency, ultraviolet- protection effect and skin-beautifying effect, by dispersing a specific ultrafine particles of titanium oxide in a mixture of water and a polyhydric alcohol and using the obtained transparent sol in combination with a polyhydric alcohol and a skin-beautifying component as essential components. CONSTITUTION:The objective cosmetic effective in protecting the skin form ultraviolet radiation causing the aging, spots, freckles, etc., of the skin and improving the beautifulness of the skin without coloring the skin in white color can be produced by compounding (A) a transparent sol produced by dispersing 1.0-30.0wt.% of ultrafine particles of titanium oxide having a maximum particle diameter of <=60mmu and an average particle diameter of 5-25mmu in 99.0-70.0wt.% of an arbitrary liquid mixture of water and a polyhydric alcohol, (B) a polyhydric alcohol which is liquid at normal temperature (e.g. glycerol) and (C) a skin-beautifying component (e.g. placenta extract) and, as necessary, (D) an ultraviolet absorber. The amounts of the components A (in terms of titanium oxide), B and C are 0.01-10.0wt.%, 0.5-50.0wt.% and 0.01-10.0wt.% based on the whole cosmetic, respectively. |
