The present invention provides a compound represented by general formula (I) and also provides a composition containing the compound, a polymer obtained by polymerizing the composition, and a liquid crystal display element. The compound according to the present invention is useful as a constituting member of the polymerizable composition used for a polymer-stabilized liquid crystal display element, since the compound shows high-speed response and low-voltage drivability when the polymerizable composition is prepared through heating. In addition, the polymer (optically anisotropic body) using the composition containing the compound according to the present invention is useful in applications as an optical material since the polymer has superior adhesiveness with respect to various base materials or oriented films. |
