An elongate funnel-shaped container (1) for receiving field crops, especially sugar-beet, has passage orifices (6) arranged in succession at a distance from one another along the bottom and extending transversely relative to its longitudinal extent and is equipped with a driving device (7) which can be driven to and fro directly above the bottom and along the latter and the strip-shaped drivers (8) of which extend transversely over the bottom. The driving device (7) is actuated to and fro along the bottom by means of a variable drive. Located above each passage orifice is a roof-shaped cover (15) held at a distance from the bottom and from the driving device.
