The vessel forceps for clamping of blood vessels has three clamping jaws (14, 15, 16) two of which are arranged rigidly next to one another with a small lateral spacing. The third clamping jaw (14) presses the blood vessel against each of the other two clamping jaws (15, 16), so that the mechanical pressure force is distributed while, on the other hand, large contact angles are avoided. All three clamping jaws (14, 15, 16) are provided with longitudinal grooves in order to prevent slipping. Concave grip plates (21, 22) permit reliable, simple handling. The vessel forceps with the crossing clamping legs (10, 11) has small dimensions and is lightweight. The essential advantage resides in the fact that traumatisation is prevented by the interaction of two pressure points and a small amount of wrap. <IMAGE>
