PURPOSE:To impart an antithrombogenic property stable for a long period of time, by activating base material composed of regenerated cellulose or a cellulose derivative with alkali and subsequently bringing the same into contact with heparin dissolved in a water-org. solvent mixture. CONSTITUTION:Alkali activation is performed by immersing a base material composed of regenerated cellulose or a cellulose in an sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide solution with a concn. of 1X10<-6>-50wt.% at 0-200 deg.C for 5sec-120min. A water-org. solvent mixture dissolving heparin is a water- tetrahydrofuran mixture and the concn. of heparin in this mixture is 0.01-20wt.% and the contact with heparin dissolved in the water-org. solvent mixture is performed at 0-125 deg.C for 1-2X10<4>min. By this method, cellulose is swollen on the surface region of the base material as alkali cellulose and, further, the hydrogen bond of cellulose is cut to enhance the mobility of a molecule and said cellulose becomes a state easy to take-in heparin. Therefore, antithrombogenic cellulose shows heparin gradual release property even in blood. |
