PURPOSE:To provide a clean and high-density image with good halftone quality by employing a laminate medium which includes a plurality of ink layers which are composed of melting substances of different hardnesses. CONSTITUTION:A base 1 carries an ink layer 2 of a laminate structure, which includes an ink layer 3 containing a relatively soft, melting substance, and an ink layer 4 containing a relatively hard, melting substrance. Preferably, the hard ink layer is applied directly on the base, while the soft ink layer comes on top. In this structure, the amount of ink coming out varies with the thermal energy applied through a thermal head 5. Therefore, a clean and high-definition image is obtained with faithful halftone by controlling the thermal energy to vary the amount of ink to be transferred. The hardness of the melting substances is selected so that the hard one is at the penetration of 5 and the soft one at 6-10. |
