The apparatus is composed of two shells 12, 13 joined by an elastic arc 11. It is placed on the head of the spectator 1 with the shells 12, 13 behind the respective ears 2, 3 of the spectator 1, with their concavity directed forwards, in the viewing direction of the spectator, whilst the arc 11 passes over the skull, in the manner of an earphones set. The concavity of the shells 12, 13 is such that sounds coming from the front of the spectator are focused to the input of the auditory meatus 4, 5. Sounds coming from the area towards which the spectator is looking are reinforced by the shells, whereas the noises coming from other directions do not have their level altered or are attenuated by the screen of the shells. <IMAGE>
