Improvements to devices for compacting the ground which are intended to be placed at the front of a tractor and formed of a chassis 1 provided with a frame 22 and fitted with means for hitching it to the tractor, the said frame 22 being connected by an articulated parallelogram system to a support 2 on which there are mounted wheels 3, 4, 5, 6, a thrust cylinder 28 being inserted between two adjoining branches of the parallelogram and connected via a supply circuit to a pressurised fluid distributor, characterised in that an adjustable pressure-limiting device is inserted on the supply circuit of the thrust cylinder 28. <IMAGE>
