PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of any defect in a throw-away type cutting work tip used for cutting a workpiece such as cast iron by forming and arrang ing three or more projecting portions with low height and smooth slope on rake faces. CONSTITUTION:A cutting work tip 1 is formed as a whole into such a plate-like shape as a triangle, a quadrangle, or a shape similar to the former two, and the respective corners thereof serve as blade edge sections. At least three project ing portions 4 are formed on either or both of the upper and lower rake faces 2, 3 of the tip 1, and in this case, it is desirable that, on lines for connecting the center of the tip 1 to the centers of the blade edge sections, or in a position symmetrical with respect to these lines, the projecting portions 4 may be ar ranged near the peripheral edges of the tip 1 as possible and at equal positions on the rake faces 2, 3. The height of the projecting portions 4 on the rake faces 2, 3 is required to be 0.01-0.1mm. The tip 1 is mounted in such a way that the rake face 2 faces to the tip holding surface 51 of a holder 5, and there at, a fixing fastener 52 is fastened so that the tip 1 is fixed to the holding surface 51. |
