The material comprises a combination of two non-woven fabrics incorporating discontinuous fibres. The two fibrics are bonded together and to each other by interweaving and adhesion. The two fabrics are impregnated with fire-proofing agent. The upper fabric incorporates fresh e.g. polyamide as polyester fibres while the lower fabric contains fresh or re-used polyacrylonitrile, polyester and cellulose fibres. The material is particularly suitable for car engine soundproofing.
