PURPOSE:To prevent a silver halide photosensitive material from increase of fog during preservation and to activate the material sufficiently during processing by developing the photosensitive material contg. photosensitive silver halide and at least one kind of specified compd., in the presence of a base and/or a base precursor. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide photosensitive material consisting at least of photosensitive silver halide, binder and at least one kind of compd. expressed by formula I or II on a base is developed in the presence of a base and/or a base precursor. In formula I or II, each X1 and X2 is a group contg. O atom. or N atom.; R<9> is an acyl group or a sulfonyl group; each R<1>-R<8> is H atom. or alkyl group, etc.; the compds. expressed by formula I and II is in the form of an oxidized body of reducing agents. By this constitution, the photosensitive material is prevented from increase of fog during preservation exhibiting sufficient developing activity in a stage of processing with an activator or heat treatment. |
