PURPOSE: To provide a method for purifying a resin-containing waste liquid in the manufacture of cellulose pulp, capable of efficiently coagulating the resin in the waste liquid and efficiently purifying the waste liquid by adding a water-soluble organic polymer in two or more portions to the resin-containing waste liquid subjected to the adjustment of pH and then applying a shear treatment and a turbulence treatment to the mixture. CONSTITUTION: This method for purifying a resin-containing waste liquid comprises, if necessary, adding a pH-adjusting chemical to the resin-containing waste liquid discharged from a process for producing cellulose pulp, thus adjusting the pH of the waste liquid to 1-7, and then adding a water-soluble organic polymer to the waste liquid to coagulate the resin. Therein, the characteristics of the method comprise adding a necessary amount of the water- soluble organic polymer in two or more portions and then imparting a remarkable shearing force to the waste liquid and/or applying a turbulence treatment to the waste liquid. The coagulated resin is separated. The interval of the addition of the water-soluble organic polymer is at least 5 sec.
