<p>PURPOSE:To shorten a time necessary to read a target image and to reduce the overall area occupied by a case by moving a scanner up and down in front of container shelves in vertical piles, making the scanner itself intrude the shelf from in front of a target cartridge to read an image. CONSTITUTION:In the rectangular column-shaped case 10 of the title device, cartridge-containing shelves 12 are mounted, and in the shelves 12, many cartridges 14 around whose reels microfilms are wound are piled vertrically to contain. The scanner 30 disposed in front of the shelves 12 in the case 10 is made movable up and down along a guide rail. Also, in the scanner 30, an image rader 48, a film-winding reel 46, and a film-running driving mechanism 49 are provided. The scanner 30 is moved toward the front of a target cartridge 14 under the control of a control means 100, so that the drive shaft 49A of the scanner 30 intrudes the target cartridge 14 and the reader 48 reads the target image. Thus a time necessary for retrieval and read is shortened.</p> |
