PURPOSE:To obtain the title knitted fabric with development of friction marks prevented, improved in resistance to fibrillation, by treating yarn or cloth made up of cellulose fiber with a cationic reactive compound to form a reaction product with cellulose. CONSTITUTION:Yarn or cloth made up of regenerated cellulose fiber is treated with a solution containing 1-200g/l of a cationic reactive compound and an alkaline agent such as sodium hydroxide to form a reaction product with cellulose. By this treatment, the yarn or cloth will be prevented from developing friction marks and improved in resistance to fibrillation, and a crimped twist yarn knitted fabric made from said yarn or cloth will retain their inherent characteristics. Said cationic reactive compound is, e.g., a glycidyl trimethylammonium chloride of formula I (R1-R3 are each H, or 1-4C alkyl; X is halogen) or 3-chloro-2-hydroxy-propyl trimethylammonium chloride of formula II (R4-R6 are each H, 1-4C alkyl or aryl; X2 and X3 are each halogen). |
