The invention relates to a device intended to be used for heading seed maize crops. It consists of two flexible links 2 which pinch the panicles of maize and pull them out. By combining the movements of the flexible links with respect to the heading machine and of the heading machine with respect to the ground, it results that the movement of the links with respect to the ground is vertically upwards. The working height of these devices is automatically corrected by virtue of sensors detecting the passage of maize plants between two points. <IMAGE>
