PURPOSE:To make the optical multiplexer demultiplexer small in size and compact by forming a fusion diameter-reduced part, two tapered parts each, and light input/output parts on two mutually parallel optical fibers each and connecting another optical fiber optically with at least one of the light input/ output parts where an optical filter is embedded. CONSTITUTION:The fusion diameter-reduced part 24 which is positioned at a lengthwise intermediate position, the two tapered parts 25-28 each which are branched from both ends of the fusion diameter-reduced part 24 and expand, and the two light input/output parts 29-32 each which connect with the tapered parts 25-28 are formed on the two mutually parallel optical fibers 22 and 23 provided on a substrate 21, and optical fibers 33 and 34 are embedded in the light input/output parts 30 and 32. Thus, optical multiplexing and demultiplexing between wavelengths which can be made large in wavelength interval are carried out by the fusion diameter-reduced part and optical multiplexing and demultiplexing in the same wavelength are performed by the input/output parts 30 and 32 and optical filters 33 and 34. Consequently, the optical multiplexer demultiplexer is reduced in size and made compact. |
