PURPOSE: To provide a rotating λ/2 lamina generated from an optical fiber by giving three forces of equal amplitude, which operate along three different directions by 120 deg. in a lateral direction against the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: Means 12, 14, 16 and 22 for adding three forces F1 -F3 , and F'1 -F'3 which are displaced by the angles of 120 deg. and operate in the direction of a radius in the lateral direction against the optical fiber 11 are provided. The forces F1 -F3 and F'1 -F'3 have the forms of sine curves and same maximum amplitude through time and phases respectively differ by 120 deg.. Thus, a double refraction vector having a prescribed absolute value is obtained and the absolute value is constant through time. It continuously changes a direction and it rotates at angular speed equal to the pulse operation of a control signal compressing the fiber 11. Thus, the λ/2 lamina 23 of the rotating optical fiber is provided. |
