摘要 PURPOSE:To set the time width of an auxiliary electrode long, and to reduce a driving voltage and stabilize address discharge by placing even a discharge cell where auxiliary discharge is caused in a nondisplay state unless an address select pulse is applied to its display electrode. CONSTITUTION:An anode driving circuit 16 generates voltage waveforms VA1 - VA3 to be applied to 1st - 3rd anode leads, a turnover electrode driving circuit 17 generates a voltage waveform VT to be applied to a turnover electrode 50, and a cathode driving circuit 13 generates voltage waveforms VS1 - VS3 to be applied to 1st - 3rd auxiliary cathodes. Namely, when the operation of a cell connected to a 2nd cathode lead is considered, a cathode pulse 23 is applied at time t2<t<t3, so the auxiliary discharge is caused between the auxiliary anode 5 and cathode 4 and a nonselection state is entered between the electrode 50 and cathode 4. At time t3<t<t4, pulse discharge is caused between a display anode 10 and the cathode 4 and a fluorescent body luminesces.
