A process for producing a polymeric material by coagulation, with the polymer, which is dissolved in an organic solvent, being shaped into the material in a coagulant, is carried out at a temperature which is sufficiently low for the polymer not to be degraded significantly. The polymer can be biocompatible and the material can be shaped as a prosthesis, in particular as a tube which can be used as a vascular prosthesis.
