An electronic payment system for processing an electronic transaction involving a consumer using a mobile electronic device and a merchant, wherein the mobile electronic device and an electronic payment device of the merchant are used for making a transaction including transfer of a pre-paid, credit or debit money of the consumer using the mobile electronic device as payment for the transaction, said mobile electronic device having a Mobile Application (MA) and a Payment Application residing in a Card Emulator (CE) Application, or secure element, or embedded secure element and including a Host Terminal Emulator Platform (HTE). The HTE acts as an interface medium between MA processing the transaction requests to a CE Application, or secure element, or embedded secure element. A method using the HTE in the electronic payment system is also described. |
