METHOD FOR EMBEDDING A SENSITIVE COMPONENT IN A PROTECTIVE HOUSING

Instead of embedding a sensitive component in the usual manner in a casting compound, use is made of a prefabricated protective housing comprising a prefabricated housing element into which the component is initially inserted with a certain amount of play. The deformation-area of the housing element is deformed plastically in order to clamp the component in the axial direction. A resiliently deformable cover is then secured to the housing element, in order to keep the said component pressed radially against a seat. The protective housing is particularly suitable for use in appliances containing explosive substances since, during the embedding process, no dangerous work-materials are used, nor do any aggressive resin-components appear subsequently.
