PURPOSE:To obtain a high-density memory by controlling an optical beam, with which a storing medium having a perpendicular magnetizing film is irradiated, generating magnetization inversion or re-inversion, controlling a recording magnetic domain and executing storing operation. CONSTITUTION:By controlling the pulse height, pulse width and repetition period of an optical beam 4, with which a storing medium 1 having the perpendicular magnetizing film is irradiated, the magnetization inversion or re-inversion is generated. Then, the generation and development of a cylinder or stripe-shaped recording magnetic domain, the diameter of the magnetic domain, the length of the magnetic domain, the duplication and extinction of the magnetic domain is controlled and the storing operation is executed. As the perpendicular magnetizing film, a rare earth element selected from Tb, Dy, Gd, Nd and Pr, composite material of these elements, an ion family element selected from Fe, Co, Ni and Cr or the composite material of these elements can be selected. Thus, the high-density memory can be selected. |
