PURPOSE:To make the thickness of an oriented film on a glass base plate uniform and to improve the orientation characteristics of the liquid crystal by forming the oriented film by sticking a sheet made of a resin to the glass base plate. CONSTITUTION:The sheet 3 made of a resin having a uniform thickness is formed in advance and an oriented film 4 is formed on a glass base plate 1 by sticking the sheet 3 to the base plate 1. As a result, the thickness of the oriented film 4 and orientation characteristics on the base plate 1 become uniform and, accordingly, uneven liquid crystal picture qualities resulting from inferior orientation are not produced. Moreover, even when active matrix elements with uneven surfaces, such as a TFT element, MIM element, etc., or a color filter having a large ruggedness exists on the surface of the base plate 1, the thickness of the oriented film can be made uniform at every part on the glass base plate 1. Consequently, the orientation characteristics at each part on the glass base plate can be uniformized. |
