PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of effectively suppressing a temperature rise of an end part due to a difference in sheet width by using the minimum number of heaters, to support sheets in various widths.SOLUTION: A fixing device 20 comprises: a rotatable fixing member 33 having flexibility and formed in an endless shape; a heat source 35 that heats the fixing member; and a pressure member 31 that comes into pressure contact with the fixing member, and passes a recording medium carrying an unfixed image through a nip part between the fixing member and the pressure member to fix the image. The fixing device 20 further includes a shield member 43 that is arranged between the inner surface of the fixing member and the heat source, rotatable in a circumferential direction of the fixing member, and shields radiation heat emitted from the heat source to the fixing member. The shield member rotates in one direction and the other direction from a reference position where a length of a part of the heat source not covered with the shield member substantially corresponds to a sheet width that is frequently used. |
