A centring mandrel (16) longitudinally displaceable in the housing (12) can be retracted into an inoperative position behind an outer end face (20) so that it is partly surrounded and protected by a projecting part of the collar (14). In its front area, about half the collar (14) is removed, the remaining part of the collar (14) preferably pointing in the direction from which the work piece is inserted. Due to the relieved part of the collar (14), an end face (15) of the work piece (13) can be sensed and monitored by a measuring probe (23). |
