PURPOSE:To obtain the radiation detector having high accuracy and the waveform shaping circuit which is exact in energy discrimination by providing a radiation detecting means, electrodes, and shielding means and making the electrode length larger than the aperture length by the shielding means. CONSTITUTION:The radiation detector consists of the detector 1, the electrodes 2, 3 and the shielding plate 15 consisting of lead, etc., having a large coefft. of radiation absorption. A hole of A length is opened at the shielding plate 15 and a photon 4 is emitted only through this hole. Electrons and holes are, therefore, generated around this region. The relation A<B holds between the lengths B and A of the electrodes 2, 3 at this time. As a result, the greater part of the electric lines of force generated by the electrons are absorbed in the electrodes 2, 3. The electric lines of force leaking to the outside of the detector 1 are absorbed and the higher efficiency is obtd. if the electrodes 2, 3 are formed long in the case of increasing the aperture length.
