PURPOSE:To enhance oxygen permeability, transparency, mechanical strength and bio-compatibility by forming an oxygen permeable membrane containing crystalline substance and insoluble in water using a mixture of silk fibroin and silk sericin. CONSTITUTION:A membrane composed of a mixture of silk fibroin and silk sericin is immersed in a solution mixture consisting of a solvent and water to form an oxygen permeable membrane containing crystalline substance and insoluble in water. In this case, the oxygen permeability of the membrane can be controlled by changing the composition, temp. and treatment time of the solution mixture and the drying temp. of the membrane is 3 deg.C or more, pref., 5-80 deg.C. When the oxygen permeable membrane is formed by crystallizing the silk fibroin membrane, a degree of crystallization is set to 10% or more, pref., to 15-50%. The obtained oxygen permeable membrane has excellent oxygen permeability and is also well in transparency, mechanical strength and bio- compatibility. |
