An apparatus for searching out desired data in files, wherein data retrieval device comprises a shift register (294) having a predetermined number of stages for receiving and transferring data read from the files, a key register (292) having a predetermined number of stages for registering a retrieval key, a comparator (296) that compares the data in the key register with the corresponding data in the shift register, and a logical operation circuit (297) which generates and outputs a matching signal related to coincidence or noncoincidence of the retrieval key in the key register and a corresponding data sequence in the shift register on the basis of the signals outputted from the comparator (296) and indicating the results of the comparison. |
