Two cantilever-type elastic members are fixed at one of their respective ends and arranged in parallel spaced relationship. A spacer member is placed between the fixed ends of the elastic members. A metal wire is stretched between the free ends on the elastic members. The force to be measured is applied to the free end of the first elastic member, and the vibration of the metal wire is converted into electrical oscillation. The frequency of the oscilation for calculating the force is measured and used for caclulating the force. The spacer member and the metal wire are made of materials having the same linear expansion coefficient and have the same effective dimension in the longitudinal direction of the metal wire.
